	Explore Antarctica!

Dare to take an imaginary trip to Antarctica! Find out what you’ll need to succeed—food, equipment, medical supplies, etc. Computer links suggested for further exploration. This information is from the Bancroft Arnesen Expedition Across Antarctica.

	GirlSports Basics

Got a group of active girls? Wish you had sports equipment for your troop to use for games? Here it is!

There is a variety of balls and equipment inside this duffel bag to enhance your sports activities with your girls as they develop basic sports-readiness skills and self-confidence.

Ball-handling skills, such as catching, throwing, volleying and kicking can be easily taught and practiced using the game activity cards provided.

	Go Geo!

Participate in world-wide scavenger hunts for caches (mini-treasures) located right in your local community. Girls have an opportunity to have fun while learning about the high-tech navigation of GPS. Caches are also located on camp properties so you can explore this unique sport while troop camping.

For: Junior, Teen Girl Scouts

Time: 1 hour or more - you decide

Materials for: (varies) – each kit contains 4 GPS units, a training video and instructions.

Fee: $5 PLUS $50 deposit required

Trainings are offered throughout the year to assist you in learning how to use the GPS systems and Geocaching.

	Grand Old Flag

Explore the history of the red, white and blue! Use this kit to help girls discover the history behind our country’s flag. Information is included to find out the appropriate way to display the flag and how to “retire” an unusable one. Materials in the kit can help girls learn how to raise, lower and fold a flag for an outdoor flag ceremony and practice carrying a flag for an indoor ceremony or a parade.

			In the Pink Breast Cancer Awareness

Learn about early detection, risk factors and support organizations for this disease. Investigate the technology that has been developed to diagnose and treat women. Discover what is being done today to help cure this cancer. A video and hands-on materials (breast model with cancer cells) help girls learn about this disease.

For: Teen Girl Scouts

Interest Project Patch:In the Pink Breast Cancer Awareness

	Investiture Ceremony

This pre-scripted ceremony to invest new and rededicate current Girl Scouts into the organization uses battery operated candles with colored ribbon to emphasize the ten parts of the Girl Scout Law and the three parts of the Promise. It is divided into 18 speaking parts – with laminated note cards for each part. Ceremony is written in English and in Spanish in each kit. Created by Troop #4314 as their Bronze Award Project in 2007.

	Totally Tinikling

The Tinikling Dance is one of the most dramatic dances in the Philippines. The dance is named after the long-legged "Tikling" birds as they hop between tall reeds and tree branches. Dancers perform along the sides and between two bamboo poles which are struck together in time to the music.

	Wet & Wild

Strap on your boots and get ready for a wet hike! Check out what lives in a pond, lake or stream. Use magnifiers to get up close and personal with captured critters! Flannel board story, riddles and finger puppets provide quiet activities, too. Girls can create their own frog chorus!

		Zink the Zebra Returns

Revisit Zink with new activities! Continue your journey through the Lipus Jungle with Zink the Zebra. Take your troop beyond the basics – choose activities that concentrate on acceptance, compassion, respect or understanding towards others. *Girls can bring back the beanie already earned to complete some activities.
